Money
Nearly all businesses will take Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards; American Express is less accepted.
Withdrawing Cash
ATMs can be found around the city if you wish to withdraw cash. You are better to use those at banks in order to avoid any fees.
As anywhere, cover your hand when entering your pin details, and be aware of anyone around you.
Scottish Bank Notes
Many of Scotland’s banks issue their own bank notes, and these will be accepted anywhere in Scotland, as will Bank of England notes (Scottish Pounds and English Pounds have the same value).
However, upon leaving Scotland, you are better to convert any remaining Scottish pound notes into Bank of England notes (at parity) or any other currency of your choice as they are less negotiable outside of the country – even in England.

WEATHER
Scotland is quite famous for its weather as we can often experience four seasons in one day. At the end of August, it should be warm enough to wear a light cardigan or jumper, sometimes even just a t-shirt during the day if the sun appears!
However, be prepared for rain and colder temperatures too. A packable waterproof jacket or poncho can be purchased in one of the many outdoor shops in the city centre.
In the evening you will probably need a jacket or coat, especially if you are travelling from a country with a warmer climate than Scotland’s.
